Call for tenders for a regional radio station
Applications should be submitted to ALIA by 7 June 2019
Today the Luxembourg Independent Media Authority (ALIA) issued a public call for tenders for a regional radio station (transmission network). Transmission network 2 has remained unused since the shareholders of Antenne Luxemburg decided, of their own accord, to stop using the associated frequencies on 27 November 2018. On 14 January 2019, the operating company TopStar Radio s.à r.l. was declared bankrupt by Luxembourg District Court.
Following consultations with the Department of Media, Telecommunications and Digital Policy (SMC) and the Luxembourg Regulatory Institute (ILR) on the available options, ALIA decided to launch a new call for tenders for the network.
The Authority is not setting any specific conditions with regard to the content or language of the station, but it is keen to broaden media pluralism in Luxembourg. It is calling on anyone interested in broadcasting over this network to submit an application by 7 June 2019.
